This page is dedicated to Glisson descendants searching their Glisson Genealogy. My purpose is to put as many references together for Glissons throughout the US as possible. I have many pages of references grouped by states and then by counties. I have included marriage lists, death records, wills, The Social Security Death Index, births, bible records, land records, cemetery listings, newspaper obituaries, information from descendants of individual Glisson Families, and many misc. records that pertain to the name Glisson. Also I have included Census records which contain Glisson and the various spellings of Glisson. I will be happy to add any new information given to me by others as well as corrections, updates and omissions. What I am attempting to do is put the facts out from References that I can collect then I am putting together the different Glisson families using these facts. All families cannot be grouped into 1 family. I will use information about families that has been given to me by descendants of these families and also by my own research. The Family groups should NOT be taken as fact but instead used as a guideline to research and prove your own direct line. Of course once proof on certain families is obtained I would like to have that proof information to add to references for Glissons. In other words References are fact and family groupings may or may not be fact. When quoting a reference from books, publications, or Internet source or misc. list I try to list the name of reference and the author or editor etc. to give them credit for the information. I am not trying to take credit for all the information. I have just gathered the enclosed info to put in one source for those trying to find their family roots.
I spent 27 years gathering this
information and intended to write a book. But I am now well over 1000
pages and a book will be to hard to do. I have never intended to put all
this together in order to make a profit. I can never be paid for the time
I have put in toward this project. Thus I decided to try to put it out on
the internet to reach all those wishing to know about their Glisson Ancestors.
After all, information about our ancestors belongs to everyone. Any information
taken from this project is not to be used to make a profit.

I still cannot connect all family groups to these main groups but when I
get enough info to group them to a main group I will.

Below are the 6 main Glisson family groups. Obediah, John & Josesph are closely
related and will eventually be 1 very large main group. Thomas b.1709 may also connect to this group
but connection cannot be ascertained at this time. Thomas Glisan is another completely separate group. James Glisson is another completely
separate group. There are also
many small groups that will not connect to any of the below 6 main groups but
you can find them in the below individual state references. Also in the individual State references
below I have put together some small groups that definitely connect to one the
main groups but have not found final proof to connect them yet.
